1. INTRODUCTION

The Ultrasonic Open Channel Flowmeter by Jiangsu Aice is a groundbreaking non-contact device that utilizes the acoustic reflection principle to meticulously measure water levels over weirs. This advanced system seamlessly converts these measurements into accurate flow rates. Comprising a robust ultrasonic probe and a durable mainframe, both encased in a fully plastic sealed structure, this instrument excels in both industrial and environmental sectors. The ultrasonic probe, strategically positioned above the weir, dispatches a precise ultrasonic beam to the water surface. This beam is then reflected back to the probe, with the main unit computing the propagation time to determine the flow rate based on the liquid level and the specified weir type.

I. Basic Setting: Once the instrument is installed, simply configure the installation height and select the appropriate standard weir/flume type for seamless operation. II. Installation Height Setting: Installation height varies with different water measuring weir/flume types. Here's how to determine it for standard types: Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the ultrasonic transducer's (probe's) end to the flume's bottom. Rectangular Weir: Measure from the probe's end to the lowest water outlet point. Triangular Weir: Measure from the probe's end to the right-angle point of the water outlet.
III. Flume/Weir Selection and Geometric Parameter Setting: Choose the standard flume/weir type based on your application. Then, configure the corresponding geometric parameters. For common types: Parshall Flume: Select 'Parshall Flume' and set the standard flume number, using the throat section width as the criterion (refer to Table 1). Rectangular Weir: Select 'Rectangular Weir' and configure channel width, weir width, bottom height, and geometric parameter descriptions.
