1. INTRODUCTION

The Ultrasonic Open Channel Flowmeter is a sophisticated, non-contact device designed to precisely measure water flow over a weir. By utilizing the principle of acoustic reflection, it detects water levels and converts them into flow rates. This advanced meter is composed of a robust, fully-sealed ultrasonic probe and a mainframe, ensuring durability and reliability. Ideal for industrial and environmental applications, the ultrasonic probe emits ultrasonic beams from above the weir, which reflect off the water surface and return to the probe. The mainframe then calculates the propagation time (t) and, based on the weir type, determines the accurate flow rate. This seamless integration offers precise flow measurement, making it invaluable for various sectors.

I. Basic Setting: After completing the instrument installation, you only need to set the installation height and select the relevant standard weir/flume type for operation. II. Installation Height Setting: Depending on the type of water measuring weir/flume, the installation height varies. Below are methods for confirming the installation height for standard water measuring weirs/flumes: - Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the bottom inside the flume, in meters. - Rectangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the lowest point of the water outlet, in meters. - Triangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the right-angle point of the water outlet, in meters.
III. Flumes/Weirs Selection and Setting of Corresponding Geometric Parameters: Select the appropriate standard flume/weir type based on the actual situation. For various types of flumes/weirs, set the corresponding geometric parameters as follows: - Parshall Flume: Choose the Parshall flume type and set the standard flume number based on the width of the throat section. Refer to Table 1 for the standard flume number corresponding to the measured width. - Rectangular Weir: Select the rectangular weir type and set the channel width, weir width, bottom height, and other geometric parameters accordingly. This ensures accurate measurement and performance.
