Ultrasonic open channel flowmeter, a state-of-the-art, non-contact device, leverages the principles of acoustic reflection to accurately measure water levels in weirs. This innovative system converts these measurements to determine the water flow through the weir. The flowmeter consists of an ultrasonic probe and a mainframe, both encased in a fully plastic sealed structure. Ideal for industrial and environmental applications, it precisely monitors open channel flow. The ultrasonic probe is strategically installed above the weir, periodically emitting ultrasonic waves towards the liquid surface. Upon reaching the surface, these waves reflect back to the probe, allowing the main unit to measure the propagation time t. Using this data and the pre-determined weir type, the host unit computes the flow rate accurately.

I. Basic Setting: Once the instrument is installed, simply set the installation height and select the appropriate standard weir/flume type and corresponding instrument for flawless operation. II. Installation Height Setting: The installation height varies with different types of water measuring weirs/flumes. Below are methods to confirm installation heights for standard weirs/flumes: Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the ultrasonic transducer (probe) end to the bottom inside the water measuring flume, in meters. Rectangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the probe end to the lowest point of the water outlet of the measuring weir, in meters. Triangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the probe end to the right-angle point of the water outlet of the measuring weir, in meters.
III. Flumes/Weirs Selection and Geometric Parameter Setting: Choose the appropriate standard flume/weir type based on actual conditions and set the corresponding geometric parameters. Here are some examples: Parshall Flume: Select 'parshall flume' and set the standard flume number based on the width of the throat section, as detailed in Table 1. Rectangular Weir: Select 'rectangular weir' and configure the channel width, weir width, bottom height, and the geometric parameters description.
