Product Description

1. INTRODUCTION

The Ultrasonic Open Channel Flowmeter is a state-of-the-art, non-contact instrument that utilizes acoustic reflection principles to detect water levels over weirs and calculate flow rates with remarkable precision. This sophisticated device comprises an ultrasonic probe and a mainframe, both encased in a fully sealed plastic structure, ensuring durability and reliability in a variety of industrial and environmental applications. The ultrasonic probe, positioned above the weir, emits a beam of ultrasonic waves towards the liquid surface. Upon reaching the liquid surface, these waves are reflected back and received by the probe. The main unit measures the propagation time (t) of this process. By applying the known characteristics of the weir, the host unit calculates the flow rate based on the detected liquid level.

I. Basic Setting After completing the installation of the instrument, simply configure the installation height and select the appropriate standard weir/flume type for operational readiness. II. Installation Height Setting Depending on the type of water measuring weir/flume, the method for determining installation height varies. Below are the standard methods for confirming installation heights for various types of weirs/flumes: Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the bottom inside the water measuring flume, in meters. Rectangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the lowest point of the water outlet of the measuring weir, in meters. Triangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the right-angle point of the water outlet of the measuring weir, in meters.
III. Flumes/Weirs Selection and Setting of Corresponding Geometric Parameters Choose the appropriate flume/weir type based on actual conditions and set the corresponding geometric parameters accordingly. For several common types of flumes/weirs, here are the parameters you need to configure: Parshall Flume: Select 'Parshall Flume' as the flume type and set the standard flume number. The width of the throat section is the key criterion for determining the flume number. Refer to Table 1 for the measured width and corresponding standard flume number. Rectangular Weir: Select 'Rectangular Weir' as the flume type and configure the channel width, weir width, bottom height, and other geometric parameters of the rectangular weir.
