1. INTRODUCTION

The Ultrasonic Open Channel Flowmeter is a non-contact device that utilizes the acoustic reflection principle to measure water levels in weirs. By converting these readings, it accurately determines the flow of water through the channel. The system comprises an ultrasonic probe and a mainframe, both crafted with a fully plastic-sealed structure for enhanced durability. It is extensively employed in industries and environmental protection sectors to precisely monitor open channel flows. The ultrasonic probe, installed atop the weir, cyclically emits ultrasonic waves towards the liquid surface. These waves are reflected back and captured by the probe, with the mainframe measuring the propagation time (t) of this process. Leveraging the known weir type, the host unit computes the flow rate based on the liquid level.

I. Basic Setting After completing the instrument installation, simply configure the installation height and select the standard weir/flume type for optimal operation. II. Installation Height Setting The installation height varies according to the type of water-measuring weir/flume. Below are methods to confirm the installation height for standard types: Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the ultrasonic transducer's (probe) end to the bottom inside the flume, in meters. Rectangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the probe's end to the lowest point of the weir's water outlet, in meters. Triangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the probe's end to the right-angle point of the weir's water outlet, in meters.
III. Flumes/Weirs Selection and Geometric Parameter Settings Choose the actual type of flume/weir and set the corresponding geometric parameters. Below are the parameters for several common types: Parshall Flume: Select 'Parshall Flume' and input the standard flume number. The throat section width determines this number, as detailed in Table 1. Rectangular Weir: Select 'Rectangular Weir' and set the channel width, weir width, bottom height, and other geometric parameters.
