1. INTRODUCTION

Our Ultrasonic Open Channel Flowmeter is a state-of-the-art, non-contact device that employs the acoustic reflection principle to precisely measure water levels in weirs. This advanced flowmeter, consisting of a fully plastic-sealed ultrasonic probe and mainframe, is designed to convert water level data into accurate flow measurements. Ideal for both industrial and environmental applications, it ensures high-precision open channel flow detection. The probe, positioned above the weir, intermittently sends ultrasonic waves to the liquid surface. These waves are reflected back to the probe, and the main unit calculates the propagation time (t) to determine the liquid level. Based on the pre-determined weir type, the device then computes the flow rate with unmatched accuracy.

I. Basic Setting: Once the instrument installation is complete, simply set the installation height and select the appropriate standard weir/flume type for operation. II. Installation Height Setting: The installation height varies based on the type of water measuring weir/flume as detailed below: Parshall Flume: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the bottom inside the flume, in meters. Rectangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the lowest point of the water outlet, in meters. Triangular Weir: Measure the vertical distance from the end of the ultrasonic transducer (probe) to the right-angle point of the water outlet, in meters.
III. Flumes/Weirs Selection and Setting: Select the appropriate flume/weir type based on actual conditions. Then, set the corresponding geometric parameters. For common flumes/weirs, the required parameters are as follows: Parshall Flume: Choose the parshall flume type and set the standard flume number, determined by the throat section width, as listed in Table 1. Rectangular Weir: Choose the rectangular weir type, and set the channel width, weir width, bottom height, and other geometric parameters as required.
